We’ll start out on the northern part of the Little Walnut Creek parkway that will eventually extend to Walnut Creek Park in north Austin and follow it up to the construction to see where the extension of the trail is going to be built. Then we’ll head back to the trail along the creek and with any luck, we’ll get to see a waterfall on our way to Duval Road. The trail leads to a tunnel under Duval and we’ll discuss the construction of Duval Road for flood control downstream. The hike will be about 4 miles and takes about 2 hours.
The trail is rocky and hilly leading down to a dry creek bed. The trail along the creek is at the base of a 25 foot cliff wall. Bring water and wear sturdy hiking shoes. It’s okay to bring a dog on a leash. THIS WILL BE AN EASY HIKE.
Join us for food and drink afterwards.
