Right in the middle of our long, hot summers, City Hall observes an extra season: budget season. The Council Members, the Mayor, their staff, and civil servants hunker down in the air conditioning with their spreadsheets, figuring out how to squeeze the most community benefit from local funds, state and federal dollars, and outside grants.
With the State of Texas restricting how local governments can raise and allocate funds, and the Trump Administration rescinding grants that had already been awarded to Austin, the road to next year’s budget may be a bumpy one.
How do you think our city should use the funds we have? Come to one of the D6 budget town halls, learn about the budgeting process, and share your thoughts. Light refreshments will be served; registration is not required but will help us know how much food to buy!
Not sure which City Council district you live in? You can look it up here.
