From the Save Barton Creek Association –
This month we will be hearing from UT student, Carinne, on her recent research in Panama.
Come out to this month’s Creek Crew Happy Hour to learn more about environmental issues faced in Cerro Punta, Panama. This area is often referred to as “the bread basket” of Panama because it produces a majority of the produce nationwide. Located next to two protected areas, this biodiverse region has been facing issues from soil erosion, river pollution and intensive agrochemical use which raises differing concerns within the community. The findings of this study express community views and emphasize the needed collaboration within the community to create a sustainable future.
