CodeNEXT Code Prescription Public Discussion – Mobility
August 1, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The CodeNEXT team has recently released its third code prescription, focusing entirely on mobility in Austin.
The Prescription can be viewed here. These papers and the feedback they generate will directly affect what is written into the new Land Development Code and are meant to be a platform to discuss tradeoffs.
The major topics in the Mobility Prescription are:
- Changing from an auto-centric city to a multimodal region
- Mitigating the effects of congestion
- Parking
- Affordability
- Cost of growth
- Safety
The CodeNEXT team is excited to talk to Austinites about how transportation affects them and how the Land Development Code can help improve their lives. There will be many opportunities to engage with staff, the CodeNEXT Advisory Group, and other residents in order to discuss the paper.
Engagement opportunities include:
- SpeakUp Austin! online discussion and comments forum
- July 25: CodeNEXT Advisory Group Meeting
- August 1: Code Prescription Public Discussion with the CodeNEXT Advisory Group
- August 22: CodeNEXT Advisory Group Meeting
- Date TBA: CodeNEXT Open House, where the public will be able to see how mobility affects many different Austin residents
- Date TBA: Reddit Q&A
- CodeNEXT Road Show: Request a presentation for your group or organization
The Prescriptions are released every other month. The Natural and Built Environment Prescription was released in March 2016, and the Household Affordability Prescription was released in May 2016. A Fiscal Health Prescription will be released in September 2016.
