Coalition of Austin Community Gardens Discussion: “Neighborly Collaboration and Diversity in the Community”

April 6 @ 12:19 am

Basic Info

Date:
April 6, 2026
Time:
12:19 am

Join us for this month’s Coalition of Austin Community Gardens meeting this Monday, October 20! This month, we’ll continue our series of talks about how to foster successful group dynamics at community gardens by diving into the topic: Neighborly Collaboration and Diversity in the Community.

One of the most valuable–and challenging–aspects of community gardens is their potential to serve as a project and a space that is shared by diverse neighbors. How can we collaborate effectively across cultural, linguistic, racial, generational, economic and other barriers? How can we create spaces that are truly inclusive and equitable, and that benefit both garden participants, and non-members who live in the surrounding neighborhood?

Austin Dispute Resolution Center mediator David Huang and Blackland Community Development Corporation Operations Manager Chris Leto will present insights from their own experiences. They’ll then lead breakout discussions where we’ll have the opportunity to talk through ways to apply their insights at our own gardens, and to discuss our own experiences.
