Please note, this event was originally scheduled as a Power Lunch in August, but was postponed due to the weather. 

Civic Farms is an Austin-based vertical farming consortium providing business solutions, innovation and technology, marketing, and branding services to companies in the vertical farming industry, the plant nursery industry, the plant-based pharma industry, the retail sector, the food service industry and CEA research companies and educational institutions.  The Civic Farms R&D and Innovation Center is being constructed at Biosphere 2 – University of Arizona and the Civic Farms consumer brand is based on a patent-pending, process-optimized grow tray design.  The Civic Farms mission is to profitably consolidate and scale vertical farming to provide affordable, locally grown, fresh produce to consumers; create consumer brand and long-term IP value for stakeholders; and develop and commercialize technology across the vertical farming industry’s first consolidated entity.

VP Research and Technology, Civic Farms, LLC

Free for CleanTX members. $10 for nonmembers.Dr. Knight is a biologist and engineer with experience in plant system Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) design and technology.  Rebecca’s research focus is on the effects of environmental stimuli and biological principles of plants and microorganisms for sustainable production of foods, fuels and chemicals. She is a vertical farming industry recognized R&D scientist, process engineer, consultant, and teacher in the horticulture, process engineering, and biotech fields. Areas of experience include: LED lighting; photobiology; photochemistry; big data; systems control; HPLC; GC; plasmid and chromosomal cloning in bacteria and cyanobacteria; systems biology; metabolic engineering.
