César Chávez Street Renaming Community Meeting

The City is gathering community feedback to understand community sentiment about potentially renaming César Chávez Street.

Join us at our in-person and virtual community meetings:

• Tuesday, August 11, 5 p.m. -7 p.m. – Central Library, 710 W Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78701

• Saturday, August 15, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Sanchez Elementary School, 73 San Marcos St, Austin, TX 78702

At the meeting, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the street now known as César Chávez Street, how its name has changed alongside the City of Austin, as well as the costs associated with changing the street’s name for both the City and area businesses.
