Camp Fire Promise to Children Award Luncheon

Camp Fire Central Texas is pleased to announce Gigi Edwards Bryant as the recipient of the 2015 Camp Fire Promise to Children Award. Bryant is an outstanding member of the Austin community, consultant, business owner and role model for Central Texas youth. The Camp Fire Promise to Children Award honors an extraordinary individual in the local community who shares Camp Fire’s passion for helping children find their spark and foster the skills and knowledge to develop a growth mindset and become leaders in their communities.

 

Bryant was chosen to receive this honor because she embodies this passion and has dedicated her life to making the world a better place for children. “My life as a child was one continuous journey of broken promises in the foster system,” said Bryant. Her determination to overcome the obstacles in her life and succeed when so much was against her right from the start is nothing short of remarkable. Now as an adult she does everything that she can to help children have the opportunity to become leaders. She calls it her miracle.

 

“Our Promise to Children must allow each of them to see a future with themselves being a vital part of what has made this country strong, vibrant and free,” said Bryant. “It’s not just a Camp Fire promise, its America’s promise. I am grateful that Camp Fire has made it their mission to light the fire within every child.”

 

Bryant is a loyal advocate for education, children, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation issues. She has served her community over the past thirty years through a number of organizations that create collective change at the point when that change is the difference between giving up or using the experiences to make a change for the better.

 

The Camp Fire community-driven board unanimously believes that Gigi Edwards Bryant holds the qualities that encourage each of us to keep our promises to make better engaged citizens within the youth of today.  The event, open to the Central Texas Community, allows Camp Fire to engage more children than ever as the demand for exceptional learning opportunities significantly increases every day.
