About Bill McKibben:
Bill McKibben is the author of more than a dozen books about climate change, starting with The End of Nature (1989), the first book for a general audience to address global warming. He is a contributing writer to The New Yorker, and his work has appeared in publications worldwide.
In 2008, he founded 350.org, the first planet-wide grassroots climate movement, which has organized thousands of rallies in more than 180 countries and helped drive the fossil fuel divestment campaign now valued at over $40 trillion. Bill has been awarded the Gandhi Peace Award, the Right Livelihood Prize (sometimes called the “alternative Nobel”), and was named by Foreign Policy as one of the world’s 100 most important global thinkers.
Following his talk, we’ll hear brief updates from local climate organizations on the front lines of the fight against climate change—highlighting actions, campaigns, and opportunities for involvement here in Central Texas.
