After several months of hiatus, the Austin Zero Waste Alliance (AZWA) is BACk, and we are ready for a brand new campaign. We are meeting on Wednesday to strategize and kick this effort off. We hope you can make it!
WHAT: AZWA Parks Recycling Meeting
WHEN: Wednesday, April 4, 7 PM
WHERE: Texas Campaign for the Environment office, 105 W. Riverside Dr.
The campaign: pressing the City of Austin to provide recycling and other waste diversion in every single parks and recreation facility in the city. Thanks to the work of AZWA and our allies the City of Austin has a Universal Recycling Ordinance that requires all businesses to recycle, but unfortunately the City has not lived up to its own rules. The vast majority of parks, pools, and other city rec facilities have NO recycling.
We know we can fix this, but we need your help. Please join us next Wednesday to meet with us, and Parks Board member Rick Cofer and members of the city’s Zero Waste Advisory Commission to develop a strategy for getting this necessary service implemented.
This is the first big step in an effort to secure recycling in all public places, especially anywhere where there is a trash can. Zero Waste means common sense services, and we need your help to teach the city just what that looks like!
Looking forward to seeing you there–and feel free to invite others!
