ATXEJ October Mtg – East Austin, #NoDAPL, and TX Climate Justice

From the Sierra Club’s Environmental Justice Team (ATXEJ) –

Join us on the 3rd at Pan Am Park on E. 4th street for our next general meeting! We’ll be on the stage area. Bring a chair, pillow, or blanket to sit on, and if you’re hungry, a dish to share.

6 pm – Arrive, socialize, eat

6:30 pm – Open w/ agenda review, roles, values, and Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing (http://www.ejnet.org/ej/jemez.pdf)

6:40 pm – Battle song

6:50 pm – Overview of 3 main organizing committees:
– East Austin Environmental Justice with SANA (Red Bluff Nature Preserve, Equitable Community Solar, Neighborhood based community organizing)

– Texas Climate Justice (Dos Republicas Coal Mine in Eagle Pass, shut down coal plants & mines near Austin and around Texas, just economic transition for coal communities)

– DAPL & West Texas Solidarity (Stop Trans-Pecos Pipeline & Energy Transfer Partners, Fight Apache Corp’s drilling near Balmorhea & sacred springs, ongoing support for fight against Dakota Access Pipeline).

7:05 pm – Choose an organizing committee and break out into work groups

7:50 pm – Clean up and close
