The Appointments Project serves as a talent bank, advisor and advocate for women seeking opportunities to lead their communities and works to attract diverse applicants for appointed positions on boards and commissions. The award-winning approach guides women through the process of applying for these positions and suggests applicants for appointment.

This free overview will be conducted via webinar and allow Austin women to learn about leadership opportunities and guide them through the process of applying for these positions.

About The Appointments Project

United WE tackles gender inequality on civic boards and commissions through its acclaimed Appointments Project® – the only program in the country that helps women get appointed to civic boards and commissions at the city, county and state level.
The Appointments Project is a research-based program developed to increase the number of women serving on civic boards and commissions by providing resources and simplifying the process. The Appointments Project accelerates women’s power and influence by increasing their civic participation and is the only program helping expand civic appointments for all women at the local level.
Civic boards and commissions make decisions about a wide range of issues like roads, water, and zoning to public health and elections—many times without a single woman at the table. The Appointments Project is dismantling the barriers that hold women back, fast tracking women, and calling local communities to action.

How It Works

The Appointments Project® makes it easy for women to serve and for elected officials to appoint them. The Appointments Project serves as a talent bank, advisor, and advocate for women seeking opportunities to lead their communities and for communities seeking to increase diversity in civic leadership. United WE works to understand the unique culture of each community and the diverse populations they serve. We work with elected leadership to identify willing partner organizations to help establish credibility, and encourage diverse participation in the Appointments Project. By registering for the Appointments Project, candidates receive a toolkit of resources that serve as a roadmap for their civic leadership journey.

How to Participate
