It is indeed a great pleasure to invite you to the America Walks/CDC Walking Action Network Workshop for Austin. The event is to catalyze and enhance individual and community-based efforts to increase walking and walkability in Austin, by connecting local leaders and community members with the talents and expertise of America Walks and a cadre of other leaders working on relevant initiatives.

A follow up includes forming a Pedestrian Advisory Council (PAC) in Austin. This would be similar to the Bicycle Advisory Council http://goo.gl/002tT. Two examples of BACs are in Washington DC http://goo.gl/bi61d and Arlington, VA http://goo.gl/Y8M4G.
In addition to sharing your ideas, know that this is just the beginning, where stakeholders will come together and create a strategy to increase walking in Austin. We really do wish you were able to make it so we would have your wisdom and enthusiasm in the room; however, there will be plenty of next steps and ways to engage after the meeting in the work we do, and we hope you will continue to stay involved.
