On December 1st, we’re hosting a FREE Advanced Tree Identification Hike for identifying difficult trees species from 10 am to 1 pm at Pease Park.
This hike will be lead by Neil Kaufman, the Sustainability Coordinator for Housing and Dining at the The University of Texas at Austin, in partnership with the UT Office of Sustainability and the City of Austin. Neil will discuss identifying difficult tree species and what to look for in leaf-off identification, while our Education Coordinator, Collin McMichael explains the basics of urban forest stewardship.
Feel free to attend whether you want to brush up on your tree knowledge or dive into your new world of tree identification, though this will be geared towards those with some tree identification knowledge already. This hike is an introduction to our Urban Forest Stewards class beginning in January.
Please wear close-toed shoes and bring lots of water. Refreshments will be provided. All ages are welcome! We’ll see you there!
