60 Years of Birding at Hornsby Bend Celebration

Hosted by Travis Audubon and Austin Water –

Join Travis Audubon and Austin Water in celebrating the 60th anniversary of birding at Hornsby Bend with a full day of activities for all levels of birders. The day will begin with the start of a day-long Super Bird Survey. We will have free birding field trips in the morning and afternoon – and a special morning field trip which will be led by young birders. Throughout the day, there will be information tables and activities in the Austin Water Center for Environmental Research culminating at 4:00 PM in food and an evening program about 60 years of Hornsby Bend birds and birders including a photography presentation by Greg Lasley.

7:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Super Survey Part 1
8:30 AM – 11:30 AM: Led-by-Youth Bird Walk
9:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Bird Walk
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Bird Walk
10:00 AM – 5:00 PM: Hornsby Fair (nonprofit/program information tables, merchandise sales, children’s activities) *no registration*
11:30 AM – 2:00 PM: Snacks, socializing, survey mid-countdown *no registration*
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Super Survey Part 2
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Bird Walk
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Bird Walk
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Dinner ($8 per person, vegetarian options available)
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Program
