SESSIONS

Adopt-A-Park 101
New adopters are encouraged to join us to learn more about the Adopt-A-Park handbook, the resources available from APF and PARD, as well as how to create a safe and accessible park.

Working with Urban Forestry
Urban Forestry staff join us to discuss tree care and maintenance techniques, as well as important info on who to reach out to, how to work with Urban Forestry staff and the various ways in which park adopters can work to make our Urban Forests healthier and more vibrant.

GivePulse 201
George Luc, co-founder and creator of GivePulse, will offer a quick re-cap of the basics of using GivePulse, then move into the ways you can utilize this powerful platform for APF events. He’ll also cover important features and tools like updating volunteer spots, messaging volunteers and more.

Meet Your District Managers
Learn who your District Manager is, what they can help you with, and enjoy a meet and greet style session where you’ll be able to ask questions and put the faces to the names.

ACL Music Festival Grants 101
Interested in applying for one of our ACL Grants? Join us to learn more about the structure of our 3-tiered program, what each grant type funds, and how to apply for each.

Harvesting Water with Rainscapes
Catching the rain from roofs and paved surfaces, and slowing down water flowing across the land with berms and swales, can help provide deep watering for trees, prevent erosion of trails, keep gardens greener and help our urban creeks. Watershed Protection Department staff will provide guiding principles for designing and maintaining rain harvesting systems and rainscapes. If enough of us become rain keepers, we can help improve the health of our watersheds!

If I’d Have Known Then What I Know Now
Gain invaluable insight from veteran adopters on the things they have learned in working with APF and PARD over the years. David Todd (South River City Citizens/Blunn Creek Preserve) and Jill Nokes (Friends of Shipe Park) dish out advice and wisdom based on their long-experience as Adopt-A-Park leaders.

Creating Pollinator-Friendly Parks
Learn more about why pollinators are important both to our wildflower meadows, and the health of our green spaces in general. We’ll cover how you can create pollinator-friendly parks through planting and protection, as well as how to create wildflower meadows that play host to these important species.
