03 Nov Election Night Watch Parties
One more in a string of services provided for Austin voters by Austin EcoNetwork and the Election Navigator project:
The November 4th elections are today. If you want to join the excitement of an election night watch party, here are the places to be this evening!
Note: Some candidates are not holding an election watch party, while others have not advised us of their plans for election night. As a result, some candidates and District 6 are not represented below.
District 1 looks like it will be buzzing on election night. Andrew Bucknall will be holding his party at Mexitas (1107 N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Austin, TX 78702) where he will be joined by fellow District 1 candidates Sam Osemene and George Hindman. Valerie Menard may also attend this watch party. Ora Houston's campaign will hold their watch party at Tres Amigo (7535 Hwy 290 E.Austin, TX 78723), while DeWayne Lofton has confirmed that his team will be watching from MiJo's Tex-Mex (1000 E 11th St Suite 150, Austin, TX 78702).
Two candidates from District 2 will be holding election watch parties; Delia Garza (Trudy's South Star, 901-C Little Texas Lane, Austin, TX 78745) and John Sheppard(Las Lomas, 730 W Stassney Ln #130, Austin, TX 78745).
In spite of the large number of candidates running in District 3, we're not aware of many election watch parties. Jose Valera will be at Tamale House East (1707 E Sixth St, Austin TX 78702) from 6pm. Eric Rangel will be kicking off later than most, starting at Opal Divine's (3601 South Congress Ave, Austin TX 78704) at 9pm and heading across to Crow Bar (3116 South Congress Ave, Austin TX 78704) from about 11pm to midnight. Shaun Ireland plans to stop by Threadgills for the Let's Go Austin event before heading to the Driskill Hotel from 8:15pm till midnight. Susana Almanza will gather with supporters at her headquarters. Her brother Sabino Pio Renteria is hosting supporters in his home.
In District 4, Greg Casar's campaign will be watching the election from Cuban Sandwich Cafe, 9616 N Lamar Blvd #141, Austin, TX 78753. Sharon Mays and her team will be at Nomad (1211 Corona Dr, Austin TX 78723) where they kicked off her election campaign from 7pm.
In District 5 Ann Kitchen will be watching the election with her supporters at Red's Porch (3508 South Lamar Blvd, Austin TX 78704) from 7pm. We also have confirmation that Jason Denny will be holding a watch party, but the location has not been disclosed. If you want to find out more details, you can reach his office on 512-767-8644.
Dan Buda will first attend a private event with supporters and family (7:30pm-8:30pm) and then be at the Driskill Hotel from 8:45pm till midnight. David Senecal says he his crew will head to The Aviary later in the evening (2110 S. Lamar).
We are aware of four election parties in District 7. Leslie Pool will be at La Mancha (2203 Hancock Dr, Austin TX 78756) from around 7.30pm. Ed English will be at Abel's North (4001 W Parmer Ln, Austin 78727) from 7pm. Jimmy Paver's campaign will be holding their watch party in their office (7301 Burnet Rd, Suite 102, #206, Austin TX 78757), while Jeb Boyt (update) will be having a gathering at Cover-3 at 2700 West Anderson Lane.
In District 8, Ed Scruggs will be hosting a watch party at Serranos on the corner of Mopac and 290 (5030 Hwy. 290, Austin TX 78735) from 7pm. Eliza May will be at Chappala Restaurant (6116 West US Hwy 290, Austin TX 78735) from 7pm.
District 9's Chris Riley will be watching the election from the appropriately named B.D.Riley's 204 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78701), handily located just across from the Driskill Hotel, for those who want to party-hop. Kathie Tovo's campaign team will be at Scholz Garten (1607 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin TX 78701) from 7pm. You can RSVP here.
In District 10, Mandy Dealey will be joining the Travis County Democratic Party's event at the Driskill Hotel (604 Brazos St, Austin TX 78701), Margie Burciaga's crew will be at Chinatown on Mopac at 6:30, and Robert Thomas will be at Austin Terrier (3435 Greystone Dr, Austin TX 78731) from 8pm.
Mayoral candidates Steve Adler, Mike Martinez and Sheryl Cole are all hosting election watch parties. You'll be able to find Adler's crew at his campaign headquarters (301 Barton Springs Rd, Austin TX 78704), the Martinez party is at Rattle Inn (610 Nueces St, Austin 78701) and Cole's event at Clive Bar on Rainey St (509 Davis).
There will be a gathering at Threadgill's for supporters of the Let's Go Austin (Prop 1) road and rail bond package.
