[Chicken Tour] Saturday, April 4th from 8:30am to 4pm is the 7th Annual Funky Chicken Coop Tour. The festivities begin at Sunshine Community Gardens with a chicken puppet show, educational booths, and guest speakers. Then, starting at 10am, the tour begins with chicken coop viewings all around town and throughout the entire day. Tickets are $10 at the door or $8 in advance. More info>>

[Festival] Saturday, April 4th from 9am to 4pm is the Johnson's Backyard Garden Spring Hoedown at JBG's River Road Farm in Cedar Creek. The day begins with a 5k race and half mile kids' fun run, followed by a farm-to-table buffet from Ironwood Icehouse. There will also be live music, local beer, ice cream, barbecue, and of course, vegetarian options for all you non-meat eaters out there. More info>>

[Beekeeping Class]Saturday, April 4th from10am to 12:30pm the Sustainable Food Center is hosting a Bees and Beekeeping Class at its headquarters on East 17th Street. Students will learn how to care for honeybees and native pollinators, some beekeeping basics, as well as how to attract bees to their garden. [Volunteer] Monday, April 6th from 5:30pm to 6:30pmthe Colorado River Alliance is having a volunteer open house at the LCRA Redbud Center. The Colorado River Alliance hosts free, outdoor field trips for 3rd-5th grade students to teach them all about Austin's source of drinking water, water conservation, pollution prevention, watersheds, and the water cycle. The program is free of charge for all schools and depends on volunteers to deliver a fun, hands-on experience to keep the kids engaged.
