E-Bikes Are Rolling Into Austin

Electric Drive

What's Inside...

Austin Energy is once again breaking barriers, this time by launching the country’s first E-Bike Fleet Rebate Program. The idea is to promote the use of electric bicycles for commuting, deliveries, and transportation, especially in the downtown core.

Last week, Bike Texas became the first organization to take advantage of the program, purchasing 25 electric bikes to promote their use. As Austin Energy explained in a press release, there are many ways that e-bike fleets can be used. Large companies can offer them up to employees, so that they can ride to lunch or between campuses, all with greater ease and comfort than a traditional bike. They can also be used by downtown restaurants or on-demand apps to make deliveries without the hassle of traffic or parking.

Starting this fall, e-bike riders will even be able to charge their bikes at a new solar charging kiosk on Electric Drive. There are also many other Austin Energy public charging stations around town. More info>>
