Have an old bike lying around that you don’t use any more? Now you can donate it and help introduce a young person in Austin to the joys of riding a bicycle.

Here’s how it works. Earth Day ATX has partnered with Bicycle Sport ShopBike AustinAustin’s Yellow Bike Project, and the Ghisallo Cycling Initiative to collect, repair, and redistribute bikes at this year’s Earth Day Festival on April 21st at Huston-Tillotson University. Winners of bikes will also receive a bike helmet, proper bike and helmet fittings, safety training, and the opportunity to test their new wheels in a bicycle rodeo.

You can help out by dropping off your outgrown, underused, or broken bicycle (of any size or condition) at one of the five Austin area Bicycle Sport Shop locations or the Austin Yellow Bike Project center in East Austin, now through March 31stMore info>>

Yellow Bike Project volunteers and mechanics will then make sure the bikes are in complete working order in time for the festival. You can sign up to volunteer to help fix bikes here>>
