16 Sep Digest 9/16: Grappling with Bad News, Defaulting to Love
We got problems, world. Big unsolvable ones, it seems. Possible solutions? 1: Better know the "problems." 2: Discuss the problems a lot. 3: Take action, make bold changes. 4: Love more, change. In a world where addressing global warming isn't on the popular agenda my armchair analysis concludes: our whole climate change situation is far more severe than even environmentalists are willing to acknowledge. It had to be said, people. Here are a couple deep thoughts on that.
The Bad News
It's been about 5 years since IPCC Chairman Rajendra Pachauri told the world, "If there's no action before 2012, that's too late." Meanwhile, our global economy is increasing greenhouse gas emissions every year, year over year, by 3%. None of us — not individuals, governments, corporations, or economic regulations, have been able to reduce emissions enough to mitigate what the climate science community believes "maybe the most catastrophic" biological extinction yet seen on this planet, and i think we might be underestimating just how deep a hole we're really in. Default to: Love
About 90% of my friends are atheist and 90% of my family is faithful. Regardless of where you stand, you might agree that in a world apparently on the eve of REAL challenge (ala climate change and global weirding) we should heed the teaching of The Faithful and default to love. Read full post here.
