Each month in 2025, we’re publishing a mini bingo board with opportunities for you to get involved and make a difference in our local community.

February 2025 Bingo Card

Here’s more info (and links) about the action items from the February 2025 Civic Power Up Bingo card:

  • Apply to serve on a board/commission – These volunteer groups (which meet about once a month) advise City Council on a variety of topics, from parks to the arts. You can find more info about how to apply to serve (and current openings) in this post we created in January about ways to make a positive impact in the new year. 

  • Donate blood – Visit the We Are Blood website to find a blood drive near you. Plus, anyone who donates in February will get a free box of Girl Scout cookies!

  • Meet a Council member – Marc Duchen (who represents west Austin/District 10) is hosting a Community Listening Session on Feb. 18th from 4:30pm to 6pm at Rudy’s on Research Boulevard. 

  • Help stock TOOF’s new Skills Center – The Other Ones Foundation needs new pens, highlighters, sticky notes, notebooks, and folders for their new Skills Center, which provides vocational training and certifications through ACC and other programs. Donations can be dropped off on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11am to 2pm at the Esperanza Community or shop their Amazon Wishlist

  • Attend the Leadership Austin Conference – Meet local business, civic, and nonprofit leaders at this all-day event. Austin Mayor Kirk Watson will be giving the keynote address. February 28th from 8am to 5:30pm at the UT Commons Conference Center. Partial scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis. 

  • Celebrate Black History Month – There are lots of upcoming Black History Month events to attend, including the Black History Month Market on Feb. 15th, Momentum Film Screening on Feb. 22nd, and the Austin Central Library Cooking, Culture, and Comedy event on Feb. 23rd. 

  • Sign up for It’s My Park Day – It’s My Park Day is a citywide volunteer event. During the last It’s My Park Day, more than 3,000 volunteers removed 34,000 pounds of trash! Sign up to volunteer at a park near you

  • Foster or adopt a dog – The Austin Animal Center is at capacity for medium/large dogs. Adoption fees are currently waived and fosters who commit to two weeks will get supplies and help managing vet care.
