CAMPO (Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization) 6 Calls for Public Input

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) will hold six public meetings to gain input on local transportation plans that set the course for future transportation improvements in the six-county Capital Area region. The meetings will be held throughout the region between March 17 and April 3.

Travis County Open House – Monday, March 31, 5:30 to 8 p.m.

One Texas Center, 505 Barton Springs Rd., Austin

The meetings will be held to collect public input on:

  • Proposed amendments to the current FY 2013-2016 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP);
  • Proposed amendments to the current Regional Transportation Plan (2035 Plan);
  • Development of the new FY 2015-2018 TIP, slated for adoption by April 2014; and
  • Transportation investments for inclusion in the new Regional Transportation Plan (2040 Plan), slated for adoption by May 2015.

The CAMPO Transportation Policy Board (TPB) approves the use of federal transportation funds within the region. The two main products of CAMPO are the Regional Transportation Plan and the short-range plan, the TIP. The Regional Transportation Plan sets the long-term vision for transportation improvements in the Capital Area region. The three-year TIP serves to prioritize those improvements and set more specific timelines for their implementation. Both plans are currently being updated as part of a regular review cycle (Regional Transportation Plan every 5 years; TIP every 2 years). These meetings provide an opportunity for the public to weigh in on potential projects for inclusion in these plans and local transportation priorities in general.

The public meetings will be held in an open house format to allow people to come and go at their own pace and participate regardless of when they arrive. Meeting information is provided below:

Translation services for non-English speaking persons or individuals who are visually or hearing impaired will be provided upon requests made at least two business days in advance. Members of the public who are unable to attend the community open houses can still get involved by going to campo.mindmixer.com and sharing their opinions online.
