[Symposium] Thursday, September 18th from5:30pm to 7:30pm, the
Circuit of the Americas is hosting the,
"2014 Green Racing Symposium: Technology Transfer from Raceway to Driveway." A world class panel of experts will be there to talk about
emerging electric vehicle technologies and to explain how advances in motorsports regulations and technologies eventually show up in consumer vehicles. Plus, you'll get to learn more about the spectacular Porsche 919 Hybrid and the Mazda SKYACTIV-D Smart Diesel race cars.

The movie tells the story of humanity's 12,000 year relationship with seeds and dives into the lives of those trying to save the future of seeds. More info>>
[Campaign Kickoff] Thursday, September 18th from 7pm to 8pm, Food & Water Watch is hosting the, "Healthy Communities Campaign Kickoff." The Healthy Communities campaign aims to get cities across the U.S. to pass resolutions telling Congress that the country needs legislation to stop the misuse of antibiotics on factory farms. The meeting is at the Pleasant Hill Branch Library and anyone who wants to learn more or get involved with the campaign is welcome to attend. More info>>
[Breakfast] Friday, September 19th from7:30am to 9:30am,
Movability Austin is hosting its monthly
Pop-Up Breakfast at the corner of
5th and Congress. They will be handing out
free coffee and tacos to anyone who walks, bikes, carpools, carshares, buses, or rides the rail to work. This month, Movability Austin is even partnering with ZipCar to transform a nearby parking space into a temporary public space for Park(ing) Day 2014.

[Pop-Up Park] Friday, September 19th from11am to 7pm, Austin will
be celebrating
Park(ing) Day 2014, a worldwide event where artists, designers, and citizens
transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks. In Austin, this will be happening along
Congress Avenue in front of Patagonia and in front of Annies Cafe. These pop-up parks will contain a small library, games, performers, up-cycled furniture, and many more surprises.

5th Annual Sustainability Symposiumat the
Avaya Auditorium. The day will be dedicated to highlighting the scholarly and practical sustainability efforts of the university community. The symposium will feature
20 different presentations from students, faculty and staff and will be free and open to the public.

[Tour] Saturday, September 20th from 8am to 4pm is the 2nd Annual
Tour de Hives, a self-guided tour of the bee yards in Austin. Each bee yard will demonstrate the many ways that they keep and attract bees, showing off the creative ways that they are
saving the planet, one bee at a time. The day's festivities will kickoff at the
Bee Friendly Austin Apiary and all proceeds from the event will benefit the
Bee Friendly Foundation, a Texas nonprofit dedicated to making the state more bee-friendly through educational outreach and grants for scientific research.

[Picnic] Saturday, September 20th from10am to 2pm is the Austin EV
Picnic in the Park, being held in honor of
National Drive Electric Week. Over
54 electric vehicles will be on display at the
Northwest Recreation Center and their owners will even be on hand to answer all of your EV-related questions. There will also be presentations about
EV technology and trends, as well as a live performance from Kathy Murray and the Kilowatts.

Austin Transportation Meetup is hosting a discussion at the
Capital Factory about
improving walkability and cycling in Austin. The meeting will kickoff with a presentation from
East Side Compost Pedallers, which will be followed by briefings from the
City of Austin's Bike Program and Planning Department. After the presentations, attendees will break out into small groups to brainstorm and share their own ideas about the best ways to improve walkability and cycling in Austin.

[Launch Party] Monday, September 22nd at 7pm is the official launch party of Halfsies, a social initiative that provides a smaller food portion while turning food waste into charitable giving. The Halfsies pilot program is being launched at theRussian House, which will allow diners to purchase a half-sized menu item at full price and then donate the other half of the portion costs to nonprofits that offer sustainable solutions to food insecurity
[Cooking Class] Tuesday, September 23rd from6:30pm to 8:30pm is
the first of the
Sustainable Food Center's Kitchen Fundamentals cooking classes. The full series includes four classes dedicated to teaching the essential skills for cooking with locally-grown food. The theme of this first class will be
"skills for healthy home cooking" and the cost is $30.

[Movie] Tuesday, September 23rd from 7pm to
10pm CleanTX is hosting,
"Getting Clean Energy Right for Texas: A Fresh Conservative Take on Energy Policy," at the
Stateside at the Paramount. The event will begin with a short film by Morry Cater that highlights
conservative leaders and their
perspectives on clean energy. Afterwards, there will be a
panel discussion with the National Coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots, the executive director of the Energy and Enterprise Initiative of George Mason University, two former politicians, and the president of the R Street Institute.
