25 Mar Barton Creek Farmers Market Easter Egg-stravaganza

Barton Creek Farmers Markets brings healthy food, arts and people together at all their events.  The markets will both be celebrating Easter with their Egg-stravaganza weekend focused on:

•      Easter eggs

•      A children’s egg hunt  

•      A chef demo by Kerbey Lane Café, Chef Joel Welch featuring eggs

•      Chicken Coop display

•      Music by Byrd & Street

The Egg-stravaganza event features Kerbey Lane Café Chef Joel Welch who will do a cooking demonstration and tasting on March 30th at the Barton Creek Farmers Market. Chef Welch will prepare a meal featuring Farmer's Market Spring Hash with Lamb, Spring Potatoes, Onions and Garlic topped with Fresh Herbs and eggs from Austin’s Vital Farms Eggs.  The eggs are from organic, pasture-raised hens that are raised with respect for the life of the hens and the land on which they live.  Chef Leena Dillingham from Leena’s Table does the cooking demonstration and tasting at Barton Creek Farmers Market on Sunday at Highland Mall featuring eggs for Easter.

The Egg-stravaganza includes an egg hunt for kids of all ages with eggs provided by Jeremiah Cunningham's World's Best Eggs and Vital Farms.  There is also face painting and balloon sculpture for kids.

Austin Urban Coops will be at Barton Creek Farmers Market ready to talk about ideas for raising your own urban chickens with urban chicken coops on display.

Barton Creek Farmers Markets music series has featured great music weekly like Avenue Elle, finalists in Prairie Home Duet contest, Shelley King, Texas State Musician, 2008 and Sara Hickman, Texas State Musician, 2010.  During the Eggs-stravaganza weekend musical guests are Byrd and Street on Saturday at Barton Creek Mall and Mandy Rowden at Highland Mall.

Barton Creek Farmers Markets feature local grass-fed meats, eggs from free range chickens, low temperature pasteurized, non-homogenized milk, organic local produce, specialty prepared foods made from local ingredients, talented artisans and live music at both farmers markets. Barton Creek Farmers Markets are every Saturday from 9 AM – 1 PM at Barton Creek Mall and every Sunday from 10 AM – 2 PM at Highland Mall. 

Originally Sunset Valley Farmers Market, Barton Creek Farmers Market is one of Austin’s original local farmers markets and has been endorsed by Wolfgang Puck, voted one of top 5 farmers markets in Eating Well Magazine and Audubon Society ranked it as one of the top 10 Farmers Markets in the country.
