One of the reasons behind Austin’s conservation successes is its Water Conservation Code. The code was recently updated to ensure that water is being used responsibly, even in times like now, when the city is not suffering from a drought. As we reported earlier this month, that update included a transition to permanent once-a-week outdoor watering for automatic sprinkler systems.
And, since we’ve been getting plenty of rain lately, Austin has relaxed its water restrictions for the first time in four years. Austin is now in the Conservation Stage, the lowest level of its Water Conservation Code.
