Austin Gets Around is Launched

There's a new group in town focused on Austin's transportation woes. Seemingly leaning towards rail, they launched last night, April 16th at Mettle on the east side.

We'll keep an eye out –and everyone posted –as we learn more but have pulled together early info they've put out on the web and facebook.

Vision: “All Austinites have efficient and accessible transit options that enable community connection, business collaboration and Austin’s creative potential”

Provocateur ethos: Freedom to choose my transportation in my city…damnit!

Mission: Build a grassroots movement that informs and inspires the energy to improve transportation options in Central Texas.

Values:  Inclusive, Grassroots, Progressive

Vision Committee: http://www.austingetsaround.org/about/

Facebook: Austin Gets Around is a grassroots movement that informs and inspires the energy to improve transportation options in Central Texas. Transportation is inextricably tied to many other concerns in our city: affordability, economic development, efficient use of financial and natural resources- by failing to improve how we get around Austin we are failing to address a myriad of issues. The most immediate way Austin Gets Around wants to help is to build excitement for Urban Rail.
