Sponsored Post – from the Austin Earth Day Festival
This series introduces the sponsors of Austin Earth Day Festival in the weeks leading up to our April 23rd event. It’s great to be able to feature these businesses and organizations that are helping to make Austin more sustainable.

Last week my son participated in the Austin Energy Regional Science Festival. Maybe it was his excitement, the awards from local businesses, the lights powered by renewable energy, or the high school marching band that started the award ceremony, but I was moved by the deeply collaborative community spirit we have here in Austin. And Austin Energy is a big part of that.
Austin Energy walks the talk when it comes to the environment. Generating at least 23 percent renewable power, Austin Energy is beating the national average by a 10 percent margin. The 2025 Generation Plan leads us to 55 percent renewables by 2025. Austin residents and businesses can switch today to 100 percent renewable wind energy through the GreenChoice® Program, and in the future, Austin Energy intends to provide 3.2 MW of community solar power available to customers who are not able to install panels themselves. That works for someone like me who has the “problem” of too much shade.
This year’s festival will be huge, with expanded festival grounds and some really amazing activities and interactive exhibits. Come visit Austin Energy at Austin Earth Day Festival at Mueller Park on April 23rd from noon to 7 pm, and tell them Janis sent you!
