Austin Demands Action on Climate

People's Climate March

What's Inside...

A massive march for action on climate change is in the works. A People’s Climate March has been planned in Washington D.C for Saturday, April 29th. The march is being organized by the same coalition that emerged after the 2014 People’s Climate March, which was held in advance of the UN Climate Summit and brought together 400,000 people in the streets of New York City. It was the largest climate march in history.

Now, activists are trying to do it all again… except even bigger. They’re joining together with other movements fighting for the rights of women, immigrants, indigenous peoples, workers, and people of color.

Along with the signature march in DC, dozens of sister marches are also being held across the country, including in Austin.

“We are one earth, one people, one community,” says the Austin People’s Climate March Facebook page. “We demand: slashed greenhouse gases, a clean energy economy, and climate justice. People of central Texas will unite to stand up for our communities and climate.”

If you’d like to be involved in helping to organize the march, they meet every Monday from 6:30pm to 9pm at the offices of Public Citizen on East 11th Street. More info>>
