Howdy! The Austin Sustainable Swap for Micro-Farmers, Crafters, & generally Skilled Folk is a monthly event, every 3rd Saturday of the month @ Hot Mama's Cafe on E. 6th.
It's a place for home gardeners to bring home-grown produce to swap for other goods and services; a place for crafty folk to bring their creations to exchange and inspire; a place for educators/instructors to share free intro classes/workshops with the community; and a place for non-profits & volunteer groups to educate the community about how they help support us, and how we may support them in their continued success.
The Austin Sustainable Swap is also a great place to let go of stuff you no longer want/need anymore–if you don't want to take anything in return, you don't have to. Whatever is leftover after the Swap, will be given to SafePlace; and to Treasure City Thrift, where it will be shared the last Sunday of the month at the Really Really Free Market at Chestnut Community Park.
And Skilled Folk–got skills you think may make good barter fodder? Bring them! There may be someone who has what you need, and needs what you can do.
The Austin Sustainable Swap is 100% volunteer organized, and it is 100% free to participate. Reserve a space for yourself by the 12th of each month on our website.
The Austin Sustainable Swap encourages barter/swap/trade; if folks don't have anything to trade, it's ok to swap for dollar bills (except on home-canned goods).
Join us for some free community fun time! Thanks for sharing!
