Volunteer registration is now open for Be the Change Austin 2012, happening this Saturday, September 29th. Be the Change is an annual national day of service coordinated by South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) to inspire and foster civic engagement through volunteerism and community service. Every year, thousands of participants across the country contribute innumerable hours of community service in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi’s famous quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Be the Change is a great way to check out volunteer organizations you’ve been thinking about joining, and to see first hand just how much a group of volunteers can accomplish in one day. This year the event features more than 50 Service Projects across the city for all ages, and includes several AEN partners: Urban Patchwork, 5-Mile Farms, Tree Folks, and Urban Roots. Projects will fill fast! Please register to volunteer today!
