In 2025, we’re starting a new tradition here at The Austin Common. Each month, we’ll publish a mini bingo board with opportunities for you to get involved and make a difference in our local community.
Feeling inspired? Print out or take a screenshot of this month’s bingo board. Become a Zero Waste Block Leader – Attend the orientation and then share info about recycling & composting with your neighbors. Jan. 15 at noon, online.
Plant a tree – Volunteer with TreeFolks on Jan. 10th from 9am to 1pm at the Boggy Creek Greenbelt or an January 18th from 9am to 1pm at the Williamson Creek Greenbelt.
Meet a Council Member – Attend Council Member Qadri’s Town Hall meeting on Jan. 28th from 7pm to 8pm at Austin Energy HQ. Council Member Qadri represents District 9 (downtown/central Austin).
Volunteer for the Point in Time Count – Info collected during this overnight census is used to guide public policy and secure resources to help end homelessness in our community. Jan. 25th, but you’ll have to attend a virtual training session is advance.
Shape the future of the Carver Museum – The Carver Museum is expanding. Learn more and share your thoughts on Jan. 11th from 10am to 11:30am at the Carver Museum or on Jan. 16th from 5:30pm to 7pm.
Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Attend the march, festival, and food drive on Jan. 20th, starting at 9:30am on the south steps of the State Capitol. The festival will follow at Huston-Tillotson University.
Volunteer on the Hike-And-Bike Trail – Help protect the Lady Bird Lake shoreline from erosion with the Trail Conservancy on Jan. 25th from 10am to 1pm at the Butler Shores Outdoor Gym.
Join The Austin Common team – Apply to become our first Equity Fellow and help strengthen our local democracy.
