Town Hall on Public Safety: People With Disabilities and Policing

The Townhall on Public Safety: People With Disabilities and Policing will take place on June 25, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both virtually and in person.
About the event: The Office of Police Oversight, the Mayor’s Office, the Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities, and the Equity Office invite you to take part in a conversation amplifying the voices of people with disabilities and their unique experiences with policing in Austin.
The event is open to the public and will be hosted in a hybrid format: Community members can attend the event in person at the Asian American Resource Center (8401 Cameron Rd, Austin, TX) or virtually via Zoom.

Additional Event Context: In May 2021, the Mayor’s Office, the Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities, the Office of Police Oversight, and the Equity Office hosted the first part of this event series and heard from community members about their experiences and concerns with law enforcement in Austin. In response to this feedback, the Office of Police Oversight is hosting this event with discussions centered around building greater knowledge and understanding of people living with disabilities and the role intersectionality has in communities’ lives. We are inviting you to be at the table!
