7:15p.m. – The Gault Project: a presentation by Dr. Clark Wernecke of Texas State University. The Gault School of Archaeological Research is conducting excavations at a site that has been home to humans for over 13,000 years. Located north of Austin, the site has produced over two million artifacts — about half of all the Clovis artifacts in North America — and given archeologists a unique look into the lifestyles of the earliest people in Texas and, by extension, the earliest peoples in the Americas. An outing to the site is planned for June 25.
