New Jersey’s Governor Bans Coal Plants … in a mixed messages sort of way

Governor Chris Christie is known for his fearless, reliable, straight talk. Which makes Friday's news somewhat incomprehensible… and worth sharing.

Summary:

  • No New Coal Plants. “From this day forward any plans that anyone has regarding any type of (new) coal-based generation of energy in New Jersey is over.” (Christie)
  • But, No More Cap & Trade, either. Christie said this in light of quitting the nation's first multi-state greenhouse gas reduction initiative (rggi), which has environmentalists scared.
  • Yet, He Stands With Scientists. Previously a climate change denier Christie said on Thursday, “We know that we are at least a part of the problem."
