Who We Are:

The Austin Regional Group of the Sierra Club is a volunteer organization of over 5000 members. We’ve been an integral part of the Austin scene since 1968.

Our goal is to ensure that the Austin area remains a healthy, vibrant, place to live. We believe that the health of the human world is inextricably linked to the health of the natural world, and we offer a wide variety of activities and volunteer opportunities to support our goal.

Join us on Zoom! https://zoom.us/j/5133069449

In-person events have been cancelled for all Sierra Club activities through July 4, 2021. Dang.

6:30 to 7:00

We will have a short committee meeting to begin the meeting this month to kick off reestablishment of our action teams after Covid. The Club’s current date for allowing in-person activities to recommence is July 4 and we want to ensure we are up and running at the earliest time we can.

Presentation 7:00 to 8+

Matt Hollon, Division Manager of Planning for the City of Austin’s Watershed Protection Department

Mateo Scoggins, Environmental Scientists, stream Ecologist, Austin Watershed Protection Department

Matt and Mateo are going to talk about the natural environment in our urban area, risks from human caused degradation and climate change, and environmental services provided and at risk.

Our Action Teams:

We’ve formed Action Teams on Austin Energy, the Permian Pipeline, Rio Grande Valley Support, Carbon Fee & Dividend, People Power, Data Entry, Presentations and more. We have identified additional action teams we’d like to form, including Transportation, Climate Justice, Partner Organizations, School Education, and Social Media. Whether you have only minutes a month or hours a day, join us to build a mass movement to stop climate change.
