On November 20, three South Texas coastal communities that would be directly impacted by Texas LNG: City of Port Isabel, Long Island Village, and Laguna Heights are challenging the company’s permit to pollute the air they breathe.
Join us for a rally & press conference before the Texas LNG air permit hearing in Austin, TX! After the rally, we will watch the Texas LNG case hearing & support the Valley communities fighting to protect the air we breathe. And later that evening, there will be a dinner and panel discussion to learn more about the Valley’s fight to stop LNG and hear from community members and the Carrizo Comecrudo Tribe of Texas!
The construction of the Texas LNG project would bulldoze sacred Indigenous sites and pristine wildlands near South Padre Island to build flammable pipelines, storage tanks, and smoking flare stacks.
Rally & Press Conference: 11:00 – 12:30 PM, Outside Willam P. Clements State Office Bldg, (300 W 15th S., Austin, TX 78701).
Texas LNG Case Hearing: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, William P. Clements State Office Bldg, 4th Floor CourtRoom (300 W 15th St., Austin, TX 78701).
Dinner & Panel Discussion: Inside the Fight to Stop LNG in the Valley! 6:00 – 8:00 PM: First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin (4700 Grover Ave, Austin, TX)
More Information:
A lot is at stake in this fight! Texas LNG would destroy an indigenous historical site called “Garcia Pasture” with burial grounds and village that is sacred to the Carrizo Comecrudo Tribe of Texas, pollute nearby communities, and irreparably destroy the habitat of the endangered ocelot.
But all of this can be stopped! We have already successfully convinced a bank to divest from the Texas LNG project, and these LNG projects do not have permits to build. Their construction is not a done deal! Read More: https://www.texasobserver.org/liquefied-natural-gas-rio-grande-valley-endangered-pollution/
