It’s My Sidewalk Day is the first in hopefully an on going series where we all can come together to clean up our sidewalks and learn how to report infrastructure issues to the 311 department, such as potholes, tall grass, or large branches obstructing the sidewalk.
You will have the opportunity to learn what happens after you submit a request to the City. What requests go to which department? Come ask your questions! and join us for some light breakfast and volunteer work as we do our part to clean up Riverside Dr, a road many people use daily to exercise and get to work. Maybe next time a friend complains about that pothole that seems to never get fixed, you can show them how easy it is to report it!
A rep from the corridor program will also be there to talk about the future plans for the Riverside Corridor.
WHAT TO EXPECT
9:00 am – 9:30 am | Snacks and 311 overview
We will meet outside Club Carnaval for some breakfast snacks for you to enjoy while we hear from a 311 representative tell us about their department and what they do in the city. We will learn how to submit requests via phone and the 311 app, so next time you’re out walking or biking and see your sidewalk needs some repair, you’ll know what to do!
9:30 am – 10:30 am | Clean Up
We’ll do some volunteer work and clean up trash along Riverside Dr. Bags, gloves, and grabbers will be provided thanks to Keep Austin Beautiful.
10:30 am | Wrap up
We’ll bring all the trash bags and materials to the table and gather for a group picture
WHAT TO BRING
Please dress in comfortable clothes and wear your tennis shoes or closed-toe shoes. Please come prepared with a full bottle of water. We’ll have a cooler with water available for refills. We recommend not bringing the kiddos since Riverside is a high traffic area and it could be dangerous to have small children participate.
