Sprouting Healthy Kids Summer Educator Institute for Austin-area Teachers
Presented by Sustainable Food Center in partnership with Skillpoint Alliance
June 15-17, 2009
Participating teachers will tour local family farms and farmers markets, learn how to build and use a school garden and compost bin, take part in hands-on cooking and gardening activities, hear from teachers who are already using gardens and food systems in their classroom, and work with other professionals to develop additional in-class lessons for their core curriculum classes. This institute is designed especially for middle school teachers in AISD, but all educators are eligible.
Teachers are eligible for up to 24 hours of CEU’s. $50 registration fee will be refunded upon completion of the three-day institute and lesson development. A limited number of scholarships for fee waivers are available.
To register, visit http://www.skillpointalliance.org or contact Andrew Smiley at Sustainable Food Center, 512-236-0074 ext.102.
