Our urban trees face many challenges related to drought, development, and public use that threaten our valuable tree canopy. The Urban Forest Stewards course is a series of six workshops organized by TreeFolks and the City of Austin Community Forestry program to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to care for the trees at your home and in your community. Presentations and hands-on activities led by local professionals cover topics including Tree Identification and Biology, Tree Maintenance, Regulatory Protections, Urban Forestry, and Sustainable Forest Management. Participants will also develop their own stewardship projects and participate in volunteer events to practice their stewardship skills. Courses begin in November and run through April.
Course dates: November 18, December 16, January 20, February 24, March 24, and April 14.
Time: 9am to 3:30pm
