Always wanted to ride your bike to work, but never really had the chance to try it out? Well here’s your opportunity. Friday, May 19th is Bike to Work Day.
What is Bike to Work Day?
The mission of Bike To Work Day is to attract new bicyclists to commuting while rewarding those who already use their bikes to commute. In Austin, Bike to Work Day is essentially a big celebration, featuring 40 fueling stations across the city handing out free coffee, snacks, and swag to anyone commuting by bike. A full list of fueling station locations is available here>>
And after the work day is over, anyone who rode their bike into work (and picked up a special passport at one of the fueling stations) is treated with a free beer at the afterparty, which will be held from 5pm to 7pm at the Google Fiber Space downtown. More info>>
And if you are a bike commuting newbie, you can join Bike Austin for a group ride on Bike to Work Day. Group rides (or bike trains) help to create a safe, comfortable riding experience for people new to bicycling. It’s always easier to try something different when you’re surrounded by friends! You can check out all of the available routes and departure times here>>
