What should we do about I-35? It’s a question local leaders have long been asking, even floating around the idea of paying for improvements through a bond election in November.
Last week, State Senator Kirk Watson released a few big ideas of his own, which he says could help fix the most congested road in Texas. Watson is calling on Austin and other local municipalities to chip in up to $1 billion for I-35 improvements, not through a bond, but with the help of a series of creative funding options. The complete $4.6 billion project would add extra lanes to I-35, as well as lower the highway through Austin’s downtown. More info>>
