Recycling Campaign Signs

Unless candidates want to collect and store their campaign signs, then citizens can help to recycle in order to keep all that material out of the landfill.

Matt in Council Member Chris Riley’s office stated that the plastic corrugated campaign yard signs can be put into City of Austin bins for recycling.

John Clement at Ecology Action stated that they will take the plastic corrugated campaign signs for recycling and they will also take the metal stands.  In addition Ecology Action will take the plastic sack type signs but he emphasized they MUST be clean and dry!

Ecology Action is Austin’s downtown recycling center. We are located at Ninth Street and IH-35 (on the southbound access road). Their phone number is 322-5129 in case of other questions.
They are open to drop recycling materials 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. (Please don’t leave materials they do NOT take after hours).

Ecology Action is staffed 9am-5pm SEVEN DAYS A WEEK Except on major holidays and May Day (May 1st).
Refer to this map for strong hints about driving to the center.

NOTE: At least Lloyd Doggett and Donna Howard want to KEEP their campaign signs. If we hear of others we will update this.
