The Selfish Gardener

From the Austin Public Library –

Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s “The Selfish Giant”

Touring the Library February through April
Recommended for ages 4 and up

What happens when a band of native plants and insects gets a new neighbor who isn’t very friendly? Will the band get the boot, or will gardener and insect learn to live together? Find out in this musical spin on the Oscar Wilde classic, The Selfish Giant

The puppets are based on the Grow Green characters in these videos. The story supports the Watershed Protection Department’s sustainable gardening program, which promotes water quality and conservation, recycling and the least-toxic ways to address pest issues. Grow Green provides resources to help people create beautiful Central Texas gardens that are good for wallets and the environment.

All Library programs are free and open to the public. For more information about Literature Live!, visit library.austintexas.gov/literature-live, call 512-974-7400 or Ask a Librarian.
