Here’s a mid-week chance to plant trees at a hidden wetlands in the middle of Austin! If you’re looking for a reason to duck out of work and get muddy volunteering, this is a great opportunity. The site is not easily accessed, and most people never get to see it.
This event is a partnership between the City of Austin Forestry Division, City of Austin Watershed Protection and TreeFolks, Inc. to plant small saplings. These saplings will help to restore native tree and shrub diversity and reduce water runoff and improve water quality in Austin’s creeks and wetlands.
You should wear long pants and closed toe shoes as we will be working in areas with tall vegetation. Bring a water bottle, hat and sunscreen and dress appropriately for the weather. Water, coffee, light refreshments, gloves and tools will be provided.
