Earlier last year, Laura and her team at Laura Britt Design were looking to perform a simple remodel on her home in Central Austin, but their plans were initially hindered by a pre-existing foundation issue on the property. Rather than working around the issue, Laura and her team embraced the opportunity and set out on an entirely new project to create a case study in urban sustainability. Thus, the Gradients of Green project was born.
After gifting the old home to a deserving Central Texas family, Laura Britt Design set out to build an entirely new structure that would showcase sustainable solutions, eco-friendly furnishings, and, among other things, some shiny new solar panels. The 11.76-kilowatt photovoltaic system will supply the majority – if not all – of the homes energy needs. Laura’s system is comprised of 42 SolarWorld 280 Sunmodules and the accompanying Enphase M250 Microinverters.

With an expansive, south-facing roof, Laura’s soon-to-be-finished home is an ideal location for a system. In a matter of months, her team was able to design a truly remarkable residence that brings all the elements that Laura has studied and is passionate about together under one roof. In addition to the solar panels, the Gradients of Green project also includes environmentally-friendly furnishings, systems to improve air quality, and, of course, Laura’s flair for interior design.
Launched in 2001, Laura Britt Design now employs a complete team of interior designers and support staff with more than 50 years of combined industry experience and training.
