A Call for Fast Action and Green Leadership for Austin Energy
We are fast approaching an important milestone in Austin’s history, February 26th marks the retirement of Roger Duncan who was elected two terms on the Austin City Council, and served as Director of the City’s Environmental Department before becoming the General Manager of Austin Energy, our publicly-owned utility.
Duncan is responsible for the development of Austin’s nationally acclaimed green energy, energy efficiency and green building programs.
We all need to let City Council know:
1) We want fast action to adopt the generation plan proposed by Austin Energy before Roger Duncan steps down.
2) The next Deputy General Manager of Austin Energy needs to be a leader with green credentials. I believe that Karl Rabago, who came back to Austin Energy after a national search for such a leader, is the best green candidate for the job. Duncan’s successor is critical in Austin’s ability to be a climate leader.
