[Volunteer] Saturday, July 25th from 9am to noon, Ecology Action is hosting a volunteer work day at Circle Acres, a former landfill that Ecology Action has turned into a wildlife sanctuary and environmental education center. Volunteers are needed to work on the trails and repair the shed. Families with high school-aged children are welcome to come and volunteer as well. More info>>
[Volunteer] Saturday, July 25th from 10am to 2pm Austin Creative Reuse is hosting a volunteer craft day at the The Linc shopping center on North I-35. Volunteers are needed to prepare for the opening of the new Creative Reuse Center, assembling shelving and upcycling corrugated plastic signage into storage bins. More info>>
[Happy Hour] Saturday, July 25th at 5pm AURA, Bike Austin, and the Pedestrian Advisory Council are hosting the Bike Lanes and Sidewalks Happy Hour at Scholz Garten. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn all about the city's bike and sidewalk master plans and discuss ways to improve Austin's pedestrian infrastructure network. The possibility of pushing for a bike-ped transit bond in 2016 will also be discussed. More info>>
[Rally] Sunday, July 26th from 9am to 4pm Keep Bastrop County Beautiful is hosting the Bastrop River Rally at Fisherman's Park. The event includes a river cleanup, live music, fun run, and lots of opportunities to learn more about the local environment. Volunteers interested in participating in the river cleanup will be provided with free canoes and kayaks. More info>>
[Energy Workshop] Wednesday, July 29th from 8:30am to 2pm the Lone Star Clean Fuels Alliance is hosting the Austin Workplace Charging Workshop at the ACC Highland Campus, Room 1101. The workshop is designed for facilities managers who are interested in bringing electric vehicle charging stations to the workplace. The workshop is free to attend and will provide attendees with a good introduction to EV charging stations, as well as a thorough understanding of the value they provide for both employees and employers alike. [Green Building] Wednesday, July 29th from 1:30pm to 4:30pm Austin Energy Green Building is hosting a workshop on Zero Energy Ready Homes at the HBA Phillips Center. Zero Energy Ready Homes are houses that are so energy efficient that the addition of a renewable energy system (like solar panels) can offset all or most of its energy consumption. The workshop is designed for Zero Energy Ready homebuilders and advance registration is requested. More info>>
