Please take a moment or two to reflect on all that’s good that has happened this year – to you and Austin/C-TX. Take a moment to thank a Farmer, Grower, Gardener, Supporter – including yourself – in moving the Local Food agenda, Things-Green, Sustainability, Conservation, Restoration, Concern/Consideration for Soil, Water, Climate, Habitat and others…….. forward with such gusto in 2009. A good start, a ways to go, and a whole new decade to do it in. Thanks to all – keep it up – keep showing up – it’s working.
January is a New Year, a new Decade, and the start of some super classes. They are Great New Year’s Resolutions, Great Gifts, a Great Time to take that course you’ve been meaning to take. There’s time before Christmas and there’s even a gift card you can print at dickpiercedesigns.com. So how about it…..??

First there is Permaculture Design – join the over 100 C-TX grads of this life-changing, world-changing, self-changing Course:
– The Winter/Spring Permaculture Design Course starts on Jan 30 and runs for 10 Saturdays until April 3rd, 2010. This is the premier course in C-TX on sustainable design, soil, water, climate, eco-systems, Green/natural building, waste-water, resources, energy, local food, farms/ranches, gardens, compost, native trees, cooperation, coop’s, and much, much more. Exciting format – classroom, outdoor projects, small group discussion, and several field trips. A wonderful group of 20-30 like-minded, exciting fellow students. And, join the over 200 Citizen Gardener Students and the fast-growing Local Food scene in Austin/C-TX:
-Citizen Gardener Courses send you, whether you’re new to gardening, new to Austin, tried-it-and-didn’t-do-so-well, home with the info/ techniques to start your own garden this season – even this afternoon. Two Sat AM’s of hands-on gardening plus a Wed. evening [pep-]talk/will give you 10 hours of instruction and the info/excitement for growing your own food in your own garden.
There are 5 sessions for Austin’s Spring planting season from mid-Jan – mid-March. The first Course is on Sat. AM’s, Jan 16 & 23, and Wed night, Jan 20. A great, fun group assembles for these classes. So, enroll now, ask someone to come with you. You’ll love it – and, you’ll be a gardener!
The Course fee ($50) is waived if you complete 10 hours of volunteer time with a CG Garden Partner. There is a $20 material/instructor fee.
This is a great time to be planning for spring, for better living, and involvement in the environment/eco-system. It’s called “Armchair Ecology” and it’s real easy – just use email, pay-pal, telephone, website. And if this fits someone you know, please pass it on.
