[Chicken Tour] Saturday, April 4th from 8:30am to 4pm is the 7th Annual Funky Chicken Coop Tour. The festivities begin at Sunshine Community Gardens with a chicken puppet show, educational booths, and guest speakers. Then, starting at 10am, the tour begins with chicken coop viewings all around town and throughout the entire day. Tickets are $10 at the door or $8 in advance. More info>>
[Beekeeping Class]Saturday, April 4th from10am to 12:30pm the Sustainable Food Center is hosting a Bees and Beekeeping Class at its headquarters on East 17th Street. Students will learn how to care for honeybees and native pollinators, some beekeeping basics, as well as how to attract bees to their garden. Learning these skills will help to support the success of these very important local pollinators. More info>>
[Design Tour] Saturday, April 4th from 10am to noon Design~Build~Live is hosting a tour of an urban homesteading site in east Austin. Features of the site include a living roof, converted silo, gardens, and a metalwork shop. More info>>
[Permaculture Talk]Saturday, April 4th from 1pm to 2pm Theron Beaudreau, Lead Consultant and Designer of Integrated Acres, is giving atalk on permaculture designas part of the Austin Public Library's Talk Green to Me series. Permaculture is a set of design principles modeled after natural ecosystems. The talk is free and will be held at the Austin History Center on Guadalupe Street. More info>>
[Spring Festival] Sunday, April 5th from noon to 4pm
[Clothing Swap] Sunday, April 5th from noon to 3pm the Austin Clothes Exchange is sponsoring a clothing swap at HOPE Farmers Market. Just bring in your gently used clothes and exchange them one-for-one with fellow swappers. The exchange is free to attend, plus there will be special Easter activities going on throughout the day at the market. More info>>
[Volunteer] Monday, April 6th from 5:30pm to 6:30pmthe Colorado River Alliance is having a volunteer open house at the LCRA Redbud Center. The Colorado River Alliance hosts free, outdoor field trips for 3rd-5th grade students to teach them all about Austin's source of drinking water, water conservation, pollution prevention, watersheds, and the water cycle. The program is free of charge for all schools and depends on volunteers to deliver a fun, hands-on experience to keep the kids engaged. Learn more about how you can help by attending the open house. [Meetup] Tuesday, April 7th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm the Imagine Austin Meetup group is discussing Austin's community climate goals at Scholz Garten. City staff and community members who have been working for almost a year on a plan to get Austin to zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 will be on hand to discuss the plan and solicit feedback.
